The most significant selling point for Eufy with this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 makes use of a laser mapping system that is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to build up an accurate map of your space and stores multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.
The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner on bare floors. It can easily sling debris through the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. The tyres are adept at hugging edges and corners, even though they are circular. Our tests revealed that it could only remove 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.
There's a basic mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. While this is a good option for spills that are not too large but you cannot limit the amount of water it is using, which will limit its effectiveness on more serious staining. That said, it does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.
3. Miele RX2
Known for quietly effective home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum is a great choice because of its cleaning power, beautiful design and great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being named the best smart robot vacuum.
Like the latest models from iRobot, the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes the LIDAR sensor to map out a room and three 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room is mapped, you can designate virtual no-go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also manually change cleaning modes, start an automatic clean, or view a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.
The RX2's sensors are effective in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust in bare floors. But it's not the most agile robot on the market. Like many other robots it's not a very good climber and has trouble with things like metal threshold transition strips.
Some people buy robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule in an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. It's crucial for a robot to be able to do the job and that's why our ZDNet team has tested and examined some of the most popular models to help you select the best one for your house.
4. Shark ION
This round, budget robot is just like a typical robot, but it's an upgrade in terms of performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your home and uses those to avoid obstacles and navigate. It can even detect common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it away from steps, makes it one of the most flexible vacuums we've tried.
In our tests, it effortlessly could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were impressive as well as its score for composite tests on carpet and bare floors topped the competition. It was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface pet hair and litter from our lab test samples.
The controls are less basic than the competition's. There is a cleaning button at the top, and you can either start it with the app or by voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, create no-go zones, and look up its history of cleaning. Ion is clad in a smart dark gray plastic that feels and looks attractive in your home. Eufy 11S is an excellent choice if you want a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and has no frills at a reasonable price. It doesn't have many of the more advanced features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models, however, if you don't require these functions, you can save a little cost with this model.
This robot is simple to set up and use. It does not require a smartphone app more info or Wi-Fi pairing, but it does have the ability to control the remote with a remote that lets you choose between different modes and alter the suction level. It is more sophisticated in its automation than most of its competitors, including the ability to create virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when rolling over cables.
One thing we love about the 980 is that it uses its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to store the floor plan of your home. It then uses the information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than many high-end robotics.
Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from floors and carpets and the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensor for floor tracking assists it in maneuvering between furniture, along edges and on the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will automatically return to its base station to ensure hassle-free charging between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as impressive as other robot vacuums, it's a reliable and solid machine that can keep your floors clean for hours at a time.
